Austrian Open Source Innovation Aloha Editor meets jQuery UI in Vienna

Open Source developers and founders of well-known software projects like Drupal, Typo3, Gentics CMS, Midgard, jQuery UI, rdfQuery, [and] Apache Stanbol came together in Vienna and talked about Aloha Editor, the new, potential standard for online editing, at the Aloha Editor developer conference.

The Aloha Editor is an Online Editor supporting HTML5 as well as HTML4 and offers a real WYSIWYG feeling. With this innovative technology coming with outstanding usability and valid HTML5 code not only Content Management Systems can be improved but all kind of web applications.

From March 21th to 23rd 2011 the highly motivated Open Source prominence participated in many talks about topics around Aloha Editor, which was invented by the Austrian CMS vendor Gentics. Beside, the groups of developers hacked on new ideas and created a lot of impressive new features for the editor.

So, the Aloha Editor Developer Conference ends with as a big success and will be repeated in San Francisco, USA, and in Sydney, Australia, this year.

“The community of Aloha Editor is steadily growing and although we started 8 month ago we have hundreds of watcher in our code-repository github and many awesome contributors. Aloha Editor brings together Content Management Systems which would normally not cross each other”s path and they are sitting on the same table and working together to make Aloha Editor even more impressive”, says Haymo Meran, the “heart” of the editor and Director of Product Experience at Gentics.

After the 3 days of Aloha Editor the conference continues with the “Semantic Interaction Framework Hackathon” of IKS which is a project for a semantic open source technology platform.
